Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

just happened on this link earlier on:

"Ben Heck Creates A Pocket Computer Using A Xbox Chatpad and..."
http://www.geeky-gadgets.com/ben-heck-creates-a-pocket-computer-using-a-xbox-chatpad-and-ardiuno-uno-video-11-09-2012/

the video clip is well worth watching.

substituting a micromite instead of an arduino, seems like one could create a pretty neat pocket computer. does anyone know how small a screen the micromite editor can work with, ie, when setting
OPTION DISPLAY lines [,columns]
how few lines and columns will allow the editor to still function?

cheers,
rob :-)Edited by robert.rozee 2015-04-14

Watch out ! These cheap china clones have no pic inside !
Even you need the old chatpad from M$.
the new ones are not working with the software.
Imho the best way is to use a china clone(cheap) and
Use a second chip which translate the datas to serial.

Hi,

it seems that the new chatpads have the same PCB as the old ones. It should be maybe possible to replace the chip with a PIC.

It exists a driver for these chatpads (without changes) for Raspberry Pi.
It would be nice to have a Raspberry with MMBasic and this small little keyboard.

Is it maybe possible to implement this code into MMBasic for using this keyboard on a Micro-/Maximite???

Frank

@Rob: Thanks for the Link - I buyed a chatpad and will try the Raspberry driver in the next days... Edited by Frank N. Furter 2015-04-21
