Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Interesting where they call it an armmite and on searching their site NOT one mention of MMbasic or any reference to Geoff or the other guys who got the port going. |

Coridium were using the term ARMMITE before we started using the term. Micromite is a generic term not related to any specific MCU. ARMMite is a specific term relating to the ARM MCU. A better term might be MMBasic4STM32, MMBasic4PIC32, MMBasic4Windows which makes it absolutely clear that it's MMBasic, and which MCU the MMBasic is targeted at. Branding is always a difficult area. Geoff what do you think please ? Peter The only Konstant is Change |

I like ARMMite and I don't think that there will be any problems. After all, who are they going to sue? It is very difficult to pick a name that is not in use somewhere. The pharmaceutical industry does not seem to have a problem though - my bet is that they use a program that knows how to construct a good sounding but random name. If they realise & care I suppose their first step would be to issue TBS owner(s) with a take-down request. Wait and see, maybe? In England a site's owners would probably not be liable unless/until notified and thereafter failed to take down all affected posts. Is Oz law the same (if that's the relevant law)? hmm, maybe the fact the issue has been discussed already means the site is deemed to have been informed??? John |
