Drivers dated 10/07/2015 Version 2.12.6.0 Put a jumper between Rx and Tx and type anything. This is what comes back: ![]() This is a board that has passed all the "genuine" tests up until now. The board also worked OK on W10 last week. I did notice the need to update FTDI drivers for some other boards I have (and they still work). I had to get the drivers from FTDI so maybe MS are shifting the blame back to FTDI. It wouldn't be so bad if all the various boards used the same pinout. Jim VK7JH MMedit |

Still a problem then - time to switch to another provider. ![]() Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops! |

Jim, Was it a 'cheap' unit which even though was passing all the tests up to this point, would likely to have contained a 'fake' chip? No need to change Grogs if genuine work ok. I have not yet had one failure with Win10 and FTDI ![]() WW |

@WW Cheap by FTDI standards but about double the typical Prolific etc units. Purchased Jan 2014 so no chance of a refund. Up until now they have worked with the latest FTDI drivers so I thought I was safe. I have found some CH340 boards with the same pinout so that will save redesigning a couple of boards. I always play safe and use plugin modules for USB-TTL in case this sort of thing happens. Jim VK7JH MMedit |

Hi Jim, I have had a similar issue with my previously working FTDI cable and one day (at an inconvenient time), the win 8.1 driver killed the cable... That is why I decided to create MuP-TTL which uses a genuine FT231 chip.. (Note I have changed the built-up unit's price UP slightly due to a miscalculation) For anyone interested Please see my price list located HERE!!! .... Will be updated in the next few hours... In appreciation for all the support you have given me and everyone else in this forum IF you are interested PM me your address and I will send you a kit MuP-TTL if you like. I still like the PIC16f1455 but have not tried it in anything other than WIN7 Pro so the drivers may be an issue on WIN8/10. I have tried it now with the F and LF versions, and with Chipkit, Arduino and MircoMite bootloaders with no issues. Not bad for a US$1.5 chip in a DIP package. Cris, did you write your own firmware? |

No, I got it off the web, I had intended to modify it if needed but found it worked perfectly first time. I have both the source and a pre-compiled hex (The latter being useful as you need a fully optimised XC8 compiler otherwise). I did post it in another thread, but can upload here at risk of hijacking this one ![]() http://caroper.blogspot.com/ |

@Mick, I have enough adapters to keep me happy for a while thanks. The rouge FTDI ones work happily when attach to my RPi's, even after FTDI/Windows rejected them. That means that they haven't been bricked. They don't have to be thrown away, just thrown out the Window. Jim VK7JH MMedit |
