Hi,

Is anyone successfully using a SD(HC) card formatted as FAT32 with a 64pin MM+ (B37)?

I am still trying to resolve my LOAD IMAGE issue (that doesn't work on my SD card). I can still read & write program files to my 'old' SD card from a MM+ confirming all is ok with the SD socket.

However, any SDHC card I insert (formatted as FAT32) is not recognised by the MM+ in any way. The Advanced user manual says FAT16 or FAT32 is useable, and up to 64Gb (I am using 8Gb).

Also, does anyone know a way to format an SD card as FAT16 from W10? Only options available by default are FAT32, NTFS and exFAT.

Thanks,

WW

I doubt that W10 will allow anything other then NTFS or exFAT these days....

Even from the days of W8 and 8.1, Bill(Gates) would not allow you to format SD cards as FAT, and some big cards it would force NTFS.

Your best bet would be something like the SD Card Formatter from the official SD org guys. I use this formatter myself, and can't report any issues.

Thanks G for letting me know yours works fine.

What on earth is going on here? E64, external SD socket, ILI9341 TFT & touch. SD card reads & writes files but appears too slow to keep up with LOAD IMAGE. 8G SDHC card (FAT32) just not recognised at all. Tried multiple SDHC cards now and nothing.

Will try the SD org guys and format in FAT16 to see if any different.

If all else fails then I am going to build a brand new 100pin MM+ set-up and try connecting everything all over again!

I have a folder of 'Funny Photos', so I just take one of them and resize so I can take a snapshot of it for the forums. Not my photos, not my cat. Funny photos keep the mood happy though.

Here is a link to the BMP of the above image if you want to try it out. BMP this time, not GIF....

Don't believe you

...isn't 2GB the FAT16 limit, so you would not be able to format an 8GB SD card in FAT16 anyway....

I need to check on that, but I seem to recall the old capacity limits for the old FAT filesystems..........

I think you are correct. I am just at a loss as to what is happening.

Anyway, I have a 100pinner soldered to a PCB, just looking for 0603 or 0805 caps for XTAL.
Will then load up latest Beta and check the basics. Then to solder a SD card and ILI. Have to go out soon though so not sure how much more I'll get done.

Say hi to your cat

I wasn't sure if it were FAT16 or FAT32 so thanks for confirming. Seems like SDHC is only FAT32 so I should have answered that one myself. Head is totally battered with this so I am not thinking straight I guess.

Anyway, I still have problems so am building up a 100pinner and starting all over again.
Just two caps to find and then I can load the firmware . . .

Denial hey!

Guess you had to give up the booze if you own a cat like that!

UPDATE: Got my SDHC reading ok on the 100pinner
But this is without the TFT & Touch connected. That comes next (time permitting) . . . . .

Good luck. Sure is weird.

Just passed my one-year anniversary - stopped drinkin' on 12th October 2014.

Thank you.

Quite pleased with myself, I have to say, making the one year mark. Now clocking up year two. After twenty years of non-stop drinkin', it is actually a nice change being sober.
