Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

LinkIt Smart 7688 • 580 MHz MIPS CPU. • Single input single output(1T1R) Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n. • Pin-out for GPIO, I2C, I2S, SPI, UART, PWM and Ethernet Port. • 32MB Flash and 128MB DDR2 RAM. • USB host. • Micro SD slot. us$12.90 this does raise the question: why are we bothering to build hardware ourselves? are we indeed building things that are better? different/unique in some way? lower power consumption? cheaper? when ready-made hardware is available so cheaply, it seems to make more sense to simply buy it in. this leads back to the argument for porting mmbasic to the RPi A+ (or Pi Zero). cheers, rob :-) |

Rather philosophical question. I will answer it the way I see it. We build for the joy of making something and the pride of seeing the result of your work. If we lose that spark, all what's left is the colourless consumerism, where more always means better. In my world though, more does not necessarily mean better, and creativity is worth more than money. http://rittle.org -------------- |

$12.90 in theory - if they had any... Wonder if/when that'll be (and what S/H will be)... John |

@Kiiid, Best answer ever! I agree with it fully. Microblocks. Build with logic. |

@Kiiid - My first post on this forum; what a well-expressed and purposeful philosophy for me to agree with in this first post. I echo your thoughts completely - and I am enjoying my first days with Micromites. What a generous chap Geoff is to share such technological inventiveness with us. Where would this have been if Geoff had been more "consumerist" in HIS thinking? Here's to creativity - the driving force behind what we do and what we enjoy. |
