Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Which type of display?

ILI9341 - you can't easily
SSD1963, you could write a Cfunction to read the controller ID
other displays will have other solutions or not

UPDATE

Just had an idea, use an analogue pin to measure the voltage on the display side of the Backlight dropper resistor. When the display isn't connected you will see 3.3V (or 5V via a voltage divider) and something lower when it is - simples Edited by matherp 2016-03-10
