Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Wow, imagine my surprise, I was browsing through the latest topics on the "The back shed" today , I was reading Matherp's post on setting multiple i/o , and there right in the middle of his CSub code , a hyperlink for Skype !

I was using my Win10 computer which I don't normally use for programming etc but I didn't think I had Skype enabled as I have has trouble with it interfering with things before, so I checked, no it was all disabled but wait, there turned out to be an extension enabled in Firefox. Suffice to say that it has now been removed also.
It is a worry, it does serve as a reminder however you have to be so careful in what you allow, some things that you think could be so useful but heaven knows what they could be doing or how they could be using or collecting your data, not to mention the extra overhead, it was obviously reading Everything!!

I've seen something like this before. Another forum member sent me an email complaining about all the highlighted phone numbers on the site and how he wasn't happy about it, could I remove them.

Eventually worked out he had recently installed skype and didn't check to see what was ticked by default in the setup.

Usual story.

Hi Mike,

I was at work yesterday and saw that too..

As I don't use Skype (I don't have any friends) I assumed it was something in Peter's system when he uploaded the code..

I also use Firefox and win10 so next time I power up that system I will have to check for a Skype add-on.

Thanks for the tip.

Regards,

Mick

I have to admit, I have difficulty taking the Net seriously yet/still.
Even BBS's with most users apparently being expat british passports
