Have had a CG Colour Maximite 2 running as the controller for my Caravan Battery Monitor System. The unit has run continuously (24/7) with no restarts or failures from 14-10-2013 to 25-7-2015. That's 657 days continuous running - is that a record? It stopped recently (was parked while I was OS last year and didn't notice until just a week ago), not due to any problem with MMBasic but I had the system logging a CSV file each day and eventually, after reaching 657 log files (plus a couple of others), I must have reached the limit of the buffer for the file names read in to allow creation of a new directory entry (each day I created a new log file with the name based on the date eg. 130715.csv). I originally was logging all solar and battery details for each days running to get a handle on just when power usage and charging from solar was occurring. It is worth remembering that there is a finite limit to the number of files on an SD card from MMBasic's perspective as it obviously has to read the directory before creating a new entry. Great program Geoff and great hardware Circuit Gizmos. Doug. ... almost all of the Maximites, the MicromMites, the MM Extremes, the ArmMites, the PicoMite and loving it! |

I'll second that. I've been using a CGColormax2 for a couple of years now on a pilot process plant. Displays statuses, measurements and graphs trends. Recently converted process from batch to continuous. Easily reprogrammed. I needed about 28 outputs for valves and contactors plus half a dozen inputs of various kinds. Was a bit much for the I/Os available so I put all the outputs onto a Sparkfun 30 LED bargraph ($20) connected to 32 mosfets, Geoff style (SC May 2011), and drove it all using SPI. Works perfectly, with heaps of spare I/O left on the CGCM2. Easy to add another 32 outputs if ever needed. G'donya Geoff and Circuit Gizmos. |

But they don't survive a direct lightning strike. My mono CGMMSTICK1 had run happily for many years recording the weather and hothouse stats until January. There is a big hole in the processor chip now but I think it's out of warranty... Jim VK7JH MMedit |

I had the foresight to buy two at the time so I have a spare. I do like the format of the mono stick. It suits my veroboard layout nicely. I have only just got the new computer and other damaged gear replaced and (nearly) set up. The data acquisition had to wait. I will be using a few micromites this time and probably a UBW32 as the mother-ship. I was going to tie them together with Ethernet cable but after the experience of January, I will be breaking the system up with some RF links to limit the damage next time. Jim VK7JH MMedit |
