Does anybody have pcbs for the LCD backpack? I am looking for a bare pcb in either size. If no one has any I'll order some 2.4 inch from China.

Hi Greg, Silicon Chip magazine sells backpack PCB's for both the 2.8" and 2.4" LCD's

Mik's boards are great - I've got quite a few. They're also very low priced and his posting is much cheaper than Silicon Chip's. Be careful with the connections though, there are some important differences on his original through-hole backpack and the later SMD backpack to Geoff's "LCD Backpack" described in the Silicon Chip article. Mik might have a new one coming though - see his "photo" link latest board on his 11:35 post yesterday.
Any more info Mik?

Thank you Curtis, Greg and Greg,

I don't have a schematic to compare my board to Geoff's backpack as I no longer subscribe to silicon chip. But the good thing is mm basic can be configured for almost any pin configuration..

Greg, I expect you should have your boards early next week.

One of the differences between Geoff's and bigmik's is the backlight control. Mick's looks interesting as it can be controlled from the maximite. Geoff's is a simple potentiometer.

Thanks for that, I didn't even stop to think it might be published on Geoff's pages.

@Greg,

Yes you can control the brightness from 0 (off) to 100% (on) via pin 26 PWM output.
If you wish to use pin 26 for something else you can omit D1, R6, R7, R8 and Q1 and solder a shorting link from the pad for the Emitter of Q1 to 3v3. That will permanently keep the back light on 100% and allow pin 26 to be used for other purposes.

Hi all

I have used mick's backpack board for the garage distance project
as described in SC, It works great. The only thing is do the LCD
configuration as described in mick,s manual before downloading the
.BAS file.
