Hi All, I've been browsing threads & ebay looking for the simplest, most trouble free way to connect to my MM without a USB cable. I've seen Bluetooth, Wifi, & 433MHz devices. Looking to go about 10m, inside to outside, but it's a pretty noisy environment here as far as RF is concerned.. I see HC-05's, & wonder if they can be preconfigured from a PC & then later plugged into the MM, so no code would be required on the Micromite. I'm very familiar with configuring modem style devices that use an AT command set, with experience going back to the dos & 1200 baud days. Big question with Bluetooth would be it's range & reliability, as I find most of my devices seem to have troubles once ranges gets around 5 metres. As far a Wifi is concerned, I run 3 access points thoughout the house, so coverage is good, and my 2nd access point is only 2 or 3 metres from where the Micromite will live. Can a Wifi device be used? I see ESP8266 devices mentioned a lot. can these be preconfigured on a PC with the correct baud rate, SSID & password & then simply plugged into the MM, and it accessed by a Pseudo serial port on the PC. Also doesn't matter if the solution is neither Bluetooth or WiFi, any suitable wireless bridging device would do. I've looked at a few other threads that date back a bit, 4 $ WiFi Serial Transceiver Module & Android app for serial over bluetooth All I'm looking to do is accessing the MM with MmEdit & TerraTerm. Can anyone suggest which of the currently available devices would best suit my purpose. Again, I'd prefer it to be able to be configured on a PC, & then plugged into the MM, to avoid the requirement for any additional code on the Mite. Thanks Phil |

Phil, This post by me was extremely easy to set up and worked "straight out of the box". As you can see from the discussion it is only good for PC - MM comms. My supply of HC-12's (see same post) have just arrived I will be exploring them soon. Rob White |

for ease of use, the HC-12 is a good option. for a datasheet and win32 configuration utility that you can run on your PC see the file "HC12 config r3C.zip" here: http://tinyurl.com/z6hymot (the tinyurl link takes you to my online file repository containing the latest versions) cheers, rob :-) |
