Hello. ![]() I've had a few requests via PM for the LCD footprints since posting on the other thread, that I could send them to Lew. Attached is a small ZIP file that contains the Gerbers for a 'PCB' that contains all the different footprints. There are eight footprints in total, including 7", 5", 3.2", 1.8" and bog-standard 40x4. You should be able to import this into any PCB program that can import Gerbers(pretty much everything), and then use your editing tools to copy the footprint you want. The Gerbers are RS-274X, and the drill data is standard Excellon type. It is probably a good idea to use this 'PCB' to create your own macros or footprint files or whatever, for each of the footprints in this 'PCB' using your PCB CAD of choice, then once you have them saved in your applications' format, you can then just drag-and-drop them from your own software library. I figured that this would be easier then having to make Gerber ZIP files for each and every LCD. If this does not work for anyone, let me know, but so long as your software allows you to highlight an area, then save that as a macro or footprint in your applications' library, there is no problem. If your software does not let you do that kind of thing, we might need to look at other options. Each display has an ID by way of size of LCD and the most common controller used with that size, but you should NOT consider these to be scripture - it is what works for me, and they are all on common pinouts - usually - but it is up to the member using these footprints to check that the pinout matches their chosen LCD. The common pinouts are on the footprints to aid in track routing. Dimensions for mounting holes etc should be accurate no matter which controller is in use, and I have used ALL of these footprints myself, and they fit the appropriate LCD perfectly. Let me know on this thread, if anyone has any problems. The 2nd ZIP file(SprintLayoutFile) is the .LAY file from Sprint Layout, for those that might happen to be using this software. In that case, just open the .LAY file, and click each footprint, then FILE/SAVE AS MACRO... to save each one as seperate macros in your library. LCD's_Gerbers.zip LCD's_1A_SprintLayoutFile.zip Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops! |
