Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Hi All,

Still have a few un-answered Teraterm questions.

Have it on my Lounge Room laptop & Office PC.

On both, the Break command to stop the program doesn't work.
Not sure about Ctrl-C.

Also put it on another laptop yesterday & seeing a different situation.

When it connects, it seems to stop the MM, BUT also makes the ESP8266 with ESP-Link go into a command prompt state, returning a ">" prompt.

This is not an MM Basic prompt. MM Basic commands aren't recognised.

Not the first time I've seen this prompt, but there seems to be no command to exit it & put the ESP-Link back into serial bridge mode.

Tried things like "Run", "Exit".

Trying "List", "Run", "Edit" & "Memory" prove that Teraterm is talking not to MM Basic, but software in the ESP8266.

Have looked at options & the ini file but don't see anything relevant.

Can someone suggest all the correct Teraterm settings, and maybe provide an ini file with comments against relevant settings.

I notice also, that Teraterm ini can be in either "Program Files (x86)", or
"Users...\AppData\....\Virtual Store\"

and that if it writes to \Virtual Store\ it does not include all the comment lines explaining the variables, just the actual settings.

Thanks.

Phil.

All 3 PC's seem to be configured the same.
All Win7 Pro.

Programs can easily get confused with the virtual store.
When an application tries to write to the program folder, Windows uses the virtual store instead. Many applications then read the data back from the program folder instead of the virtual store and end up with stale data.

I strongly recommend changing the location of the INI file to somewhere like 'documents' to save some grief.

ctrl-C is the usual way to stop MMBasic programs.

I don't use the ESP modules so can't offer any advice there.

Thanks Jim.

Would you be willing to post your Teraterm.ini?

Personal information deleted of course.

Would like to go thru a correctly configured one & compare & understand the settings used.

There's quite a few options I'm a little vague on.

Not knowing about this one had me stuck for a while:-
; Line at a time mode
EnableLineMode=off
If I can make enough sense of it I can add in some comments & re-post it for others starters so they can avoid some grief.

Cheers
