I'm trying to resist the urge to download the emulator... It even had subroutines. And guess what was the ultimate challenge... Writing a Clock, Lol. And surprisingly it kept pretty good time. Phil |

OMG Phil, I used one of those (or an almost identical model) when I was a student at Glenroy Technical School.. I was one of the privileged kids allowed to `play' with it. I was a student there from 1971-1975 and the program was done on punch cards just as shown in the video.. In fact I could almost say that was the very machine I used. It has all the look and feel of it. The punch card on the top right and the string of `nixie tubes' for the display. As Glenroy Tech was a lowly working class area school, the punch cards were not handed out willingly, I had to ask the teachers for permission and offer a good reason why I needed to use one.. Needless to say we checked every line carefully. Thank you for the nostalgic trip back in time when I was Young and Innocent. Lol Mick, Did they make you reuse yours too? Carefully put the little squats back in with a tiny bit of tape? For some reason 90 odd lines rings a bell. And things like UJ, FJ, MJ.... Rang a bell when I looked at the emulator docs. Unconditional Jump, Flag Jump & Minus Jump. Phil |

Hi Phil, I have some memory of taping the holes but not of taping the little rectangle punch tabs themselves back in, we may have used OPAQUE tape.. But then I was exposed to a similar system at GMH as an apprentice (starting 1976) with a NC Milling Machine, so I may be confusing the two memories there. Too many beers ago for those brain cells to be still working perfectly for me. Kind Regards, Mick Mick's uMite Stuff can be found >>> HERE (Kindly hosted by Dontronics) <<< |
