I want to buy Arduino nano & did an internet search.

They are listed at various prices from $4 to $9.

I don't know which one to choose.
I'm concerned that the cheapest ones may be "cheap & nasty"

Does anyone have a recommendation?

Any advice will be appreciated.

At that price I would buy some of each. Not much to lose if one or two are no good.

Go for one with the main chip in a socket,
That way you can take your project off the
Arduino board and onto your own pcb.
I bought a cheap copy and it's been working great for about 4 years.

Edit, just looked at your post again and found you were talking about the nano
I was thinking about the uno.

i go for the ones with a white rectangular reset button. never had any problems:

(nz$3.16 including shipping)

just tell ebay to sort by lowest price+shipping, 'buy now' and select the first listing with a single price given (not a price range).

cheers,
rob :-)

What Rob says above.
For crying out loud, all I wanted to do was flash this blasted LED.

@larny,

As Busa says in his post above, just make sure you order more than one.

Shipping times can be a bit 'painful' especially now as Xmas draws nearer. This is just something to consider in case you're in a 'rush'; alternatively pick a local supplier supplying 'cheap' parts. You will pay around double, but get it much much quicker.

Thanks for the responses.
I'll buy 2 (one for security) from the site mentioned by Rob.

I'm not in a hurry.

However, several weeks ago, I bought a 20uF motor start capacitor for my Evaporative Air Con (the Air Con company wanted $120 for the cap & $280 for installation) from one of the EBAY Chinese sites. I can't recall the cost, but it was about $4.

It arrived in late October even though the best delivery date was said to be 3 Nov.

So I assume they put the orders into a shipping container & send it when full. So it is the luck of the draw, i.e. it comes early if you order when a container is nearly full.

I find the Nano prototype shields pretty handy if you are doing development stuff. They are cheap on eBay Edited by grunto 2016-12-03
