Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

When using an RTC such as a DS2321
How many times can you set the time/date?
Is there a maximum number of times?

I know once set it will keep accurate time without being set again for up to a year, I'm just wondering if it would be detrimental to it having the time set once a day from a gps unit
I know it doesn't NEED this - but ....

Lewis
There are no restrictions on how often you set or get the time from a DS3231.

Hi Lew247;

Yes to what Bob said.

Virtually all the clocks use internal static CMOS memory
to store and update the time and other parameters. Static
memory doesn't have a "wear out" mechanism so you can
read and write to your hearts content.
