Just wondering if there is any preference for modules other than the ESP-01 for simple serial links using ESP-Link? Notice that the ESP-12E is supposed have better shielding 1,3,7 & 11-14 all have antenna on-board, that would be my preference. My ESP-01's are fine most of the time, but would change them is there was some benefits. ESP8266 Versions. Phil. |

Hi Phil, I like to use the ESP12F which has (supposedly) a 'new and improved' design, and also a 'better range'. I cannot confirm this myself as I only use within the confines of a small home, however, the fact that the 12F exists, is the reason I use them. I do not go for any of the 'lower numbered' modules as none seem to offer the shielding and regulations that the ESP12 offer. There are higher number units I have seen, but I have never had an issue with the 12F. By the way, the 12E and 12F are externally labelled the same on the units I have seen, however, their antenna 'etchings' are different to each other as shown below WW For everything Micromite visit micromite.org Direct Email: whitewizzard@micromite.o |

The ESP-12F modules that are sold by Banggood are identified on the rear as 12F http://www.banggood.com/ESP8266-ESP-12F-Remote-Serial-Port-WIFI-Transceiver-Wireless-Module-p-1007260.html |
