Hi Can anybody suggest a cost effective method of generating colour composite video. I have a project that requires composite video (ntsc or pal). Ideally a serial to video interface would be perfect so I can drive it with a Micromite. Or even a Micromite that has video out in place of the LCD. Something like this Colour Basic but with a serial input (Translated via Google) Regards Jman |

The MaxiMite does not output COLOUR composite video, only black-and-white. I seem to recall asking about this possibility a while ago, and I seem to also recall the members here in the know saying it was much more difficult then you think to generate colour composite. This MIGHT be possible with Peter's MicroMite eXtreme concept, but only he would be able to tell you that. I used the Propeller Backpack AV thing, which was able to generate NTSC composite video from easy serial commands. This was a few years ago now - not sure if it is still available, but I should have a couple of those sitting around from my days tinkering. If you want me to look, flick me a PM and I could send them to you - no charge. EDIT: Here is the thread where I asked about colour composite. Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops! |

@ Grogster email sent Yip I am looking to do the video in colour, B/W just wont cut it for this one. Did anybody take a look at the translated page? That would fit bill perfectly with a few mods the source is available but I don't do C :( The module Grogster has will do it with a UMite behind it so that way I will go Regards Jman |

Email received, module found, will be sent to you with Monday's mail. I had a quick look at your link - interesting. It may just be something not possible to do inside the MM2 interpreter - not enough speed, perhaps. Maybe matherp could write a colour composite Cfunction? Smoke makes things work. Lads, While we are on the subject of video.. What would be required to add HDMI video (even in a basic form). That could open up a new world for MM. Kind Regards, Mick Mick's uMite Stuff can be found >>> HERE (Kindly hosted by Dontronics) <<< |
