Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

I have just assembled a Micromoite Backpack V2 from SC.

I'm using the Terminal app on my Macbook Air.

My problem is that the function keys (F1....F9) do not respond correctly, but still perform what OSX has set them to.

So, pressing F2 does not save what I've typed in EDIT mode.

Is there a work-around for thiss?

Don't know if Mac's are at all like windows Laptops, but on some of my Toshiba's F1 to F9 default to other tasks like volume, mute, brightness etc.

This is indicated by an icon on the F-keys.

To access the F1-F9 etc I just hold down the Fn key, (left of the space bar on most laptops), then on this one for example F2 is F2 instead of "Change Power Setting".

Check if the Mac has a similar key.

Cheers

Phil.

Check the micromite manual under "using the full screen editor"

You can also use control keys instead of the functions keys listed above. These control keystrokes are:
LEFT Ctrl-S RIGHT Ctrl-D UP Ctrl-E DOWN Ctrl-X
HOME Ctrl-U END Ctrl-K PageUp Ctrl-P PageDn Ctrl-L
DEL Ctrl-] INSERT Ctrl-N F1 Ctrl-Q F2 Ctrl-W
F3 Ctrl-R ShiftF3 Ctrl-G F4 Ctrl-T F5 Ctrl-Y

There are control key alternatives available for when the F keys don't work.

Bob,

I am away and don't have a device to test but I recall the following as working

In Terminal

From the App menu follow

TERMINAL, PREFERENCES, PROFILES, KEYBOARD

Change to a Profile that has

F1 \033OP ( not F1 \033[11~ )
F2 \033OQ ( not F2 \033[12~ )
etc

If there isn't a profile with these then edit one.

Hope this helps.
Anthony

Edit

Actually It might be the default action is \033OP and I changed them to \033[11~ , \033[12~ etc

I definitely got it to work with the F keys

Have a play.

Apologies for the edits. just trying to make it rightEdited by ajkw 2017-07-04

I made this little helper.

Sits up against my monitor.

I was alway forgetting to use the Blue FN very distracting.
