Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

I've begun moving files from my old desktop and laptop to the new Dell W10 machine.

I installed my favorite file manager, Total Commander, to the new machine.

Then I copied a directory tree containing 102,000 directories with 201,000 files totaling 50.2 GB to a 2 TB WD usb 3 drive. I then plugged the 2 TB drive into the new computer. W10 assigned it a drive letter.

File Explorer saw the drive and the 201,000 files and 102,000 directories.

Chkdsk saw the 201,000 files.

Total Commander could see the drive but thought it was empty!

Total Commander could see all the files on the c: drive just fine.

What the heck is going on?????????????

Thanks Boppa, but that isn't it.

It wasn't a network mapped drive, it was plugged into a USB port on the new box.

It turns out there are a bunch of Total Commander switches located at <Configuration><Options><Display> for <Show hidden files>, <Show system files>, <Show parent directory>, and <Always load complete directory tree> which fixed the glitch after I got them sorted out.

My initial installation of TC dates to 07/09/1999 and it's been a long time since I messed with these settings.
