I have one of these in the shed that I often consider taking apart.
These old lawnmowers have a large internal ring gear in each wheel meshed with a small pinion. Strikes me this could be interesting for those who are trying to experiment with high RPM generators. The gears might be quite noisy and I dont know how long they might last but there are two sets in every lawnmower and the price is usually very attractive, except in 'antique' circles! |

I dunno, would be a shame t0 put that old thing apart. But I'm sentimental like that. If you lived next door I would offer $20 for it

YOu have a point there Glenn, I suppose I should do it now before it gets really old and I start to feel soft for it too!
Hopefuly someone who might like to try the idea can find enough of the remains of one to use in their experiments. |
