Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Hi Everyone,
I am going to be making some blades for my windmills. I haven't finished the mills yet.
Has anyone got some plans.
I am making the mills as per this websites standard steel size. I have rewired for 7P2P using a 80s stator. I have got the rotor from f&p for about $65 each.
Cheers

dont bother with PVC pipe.
go for PVC blades sold by Anthony (Jarbar)
go for 1m each and even to NZ will owe you less than $140
and be streaks ahead in performance.
my tip use the F&P bearing block in some 75mm square tube
(cut down the bearing block until you can squeeze it inside the tube) abandon the extra large thrust bearing as shown on the site, its not necessary.
Cut down the F&P shaft and drill/tap a hole down the shaft, bolt on a hub for prop
If you have the skills you could probably weld a hub straight to the front shaft.
Best yet abandon whatever you have done so far and buy one of Phill's dual stator mills.
For the price you would struggle to build something and Phill has done all the R&D for you.
I've just been down this road with a Randys workshop "weldment", which although is a good start, its a learning tool as much as anything.
I take it you want to run 12V?, problem with this is wire runs, big current thus need huge wire to carry it.
Again I did this and then saw the light which is 48V....
Hope this helps.
Read my post "I've got and F&P where to now"
I'm very grateful for all the input others have had in my little project and whatever it cost it was worth it for the learning.

gets too hard real quick with the PVC pipe blades and after all that effort luck to be 1/2 as good.
