Anyone know where I could get some DC water heater elements? I would like to set my dump charge up to generated heat in the water of my outdoor wood boiler that currently heats my house and hot water. I is a injenear |

A pure resistance water heater (is there any other kind?) will not be bothered about AC/DC. Just work out the voltage and current concerned and use Ohm's Law to choose a suitable resistance and wattage for your heater. Or just post the figures here and I am sure there are members who can give the answers. ![]() |

check out the article from the homepage on encapsulated resistors. They are free (used dishwashers is my preferred) Cut to length as required for the dump Volts x Volts / Ohms = Watts the resistor will use. Easy unless you are immersing it in water then will need some more effort to keep water out of where is shouldnt be. Luck favours the well prepared |

Thanks guys. Sounds like it should be a no brainer. I need to hunt down the kind that thread into a PTF (pipe fitting). My tank has plugged coonections at 2" that will work great. I is a injenear |

You can bend an element and silver solder it into a 2" ball plug with 2 holes drilled in it for the element to pass through. If you can find a long element with a suitable bend already in it. than you could shorten it up to suit your wattage requirements. It will make little difference if it is out of a stove, dishwasher urn or what ever but i do think the dishwasher and likes have a slightly heavier outer casing. Pete. Sometimes it just works |

Thanks birdhouse That exactly what I was looking for. And your right. I would rather make them. Not only that I somewhat pride myself on every attempt of free energy. Even the build. I is a injenear |
