On the old Homegrown Power Web site, there was a VAWT down in the lower right-hand corner. It was built, I think, in some Australian city.

Anyone have a link to it? I was interested in studying the design and now it's gone!

Thanks.

Yup! That's the one.
Thanks!

Unfortunately, the streaming video was the main thing I wanted to watch on that page and as it turns out, the video is whacked! Bummer.Edited by MacGyver 2009-12-14

Yeah, there seems to be something to that. I don't have trouble with any of the European videos or actually anything else. The only trouble I have on the computer stems from down under.

That's okay, I was able to view a video clip from You-Tube and all I was interested in was the orientation of the center air-diverting section.

I'm going to design and build a helical savonius to be used in places where neighbors otherwise complain about noise, bird vaporization and the possibility of flying parts. The Savonius-type will be a much slower, quieter, drag-type machine. I'm just accumulating ideas at this point.

It'll pump air like all my other toys, by the way! This design will use a shaft-mounted swash plate to drive one or more permanently-mounted, double-acting piston air pumps anchored to the tower just beneath the drive array.

Thanks, everyone, for the input.
