Many commercial-made wind trubines have firetrace system to prevent fire, so is it necessary for homemade ones?
If you are intent to reduce your power bills, why not pay wind power cost?

A firetrace (if its what I'm thinking of being a special wire routed around components where you would want to know if there was a fire as in Aircraft engine compartments), is not to prevent fire but rather indicate one.

Then triggering some kind of extinguisher / shutdown sequence, either automatically or manually.

I havent seen any home made windmill with provision for fire extinguishing,. Really a mechanical/electrical system if designed well and works properly should not get hot at all, let alone ignition temps.
