i saw an aurora PVI 3600 inverter for sale but couldnt find out if it can also be used for wind turbines or not.
spec sheet suggests purely solar panel type.

anyone know ?

it sold for $ 2000 where i think list price is $ 5000

Power one inverters have different software depending on wind or solar. ie they are different models.
Power one would be the one to ask is software is able to be altered to suit and if any other changes to the hardware are there.
power one

Would also need to check if that particular model is OK by BCSE as approved for grid connection in Aus. otherwise a waste of $2K+

The Aurora website lists separate inverters for wind and solar applications. I doubt the one unit does both. SMA units do have a software selectable option on some GTI's, for either wind, or solar. IE on some models, a SunnyBoy can turn into a WindyBoy.

Sounds like the unit went to someone else anyway.

yeah the unit went to someone else , i sat there thinking of hitting the buy key at end of auction but i applied the golden rule.... if in doubt.... do nuthin

coz i wasnt sure that it would do wind turbines

the spec between wind and solar is identical except that wind inverters have a 50 volt kick in as opposed to 90 volts on the PV , but that could be a software option or it could be changeable with a jumper connection.

just asking here now so i know in future and will be forearmed and forewarned

yes KarlJ .. it has AU compliance to AS 4777

thanks peeps.
