Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Hi everyone,
I just had another Solar Grid tie Panel system put on our roof.
Now we have a 1.86Kw system and another 1.75Kw system.
My windmill tower is built and I just have to put the cabling in.
The mill is ready to put up.
I have one of Trev and Marcys White pointers 2.5M turbines.
I have set it up with dual stators to run at 48V to run in low speed winds.
Just lost my job so I am looking at Inverters to hook up to the grid.
Plenty of time to play with windmills! I was set on the Latronics PV2500 and 48V controller.
However The bloke from the solar Depot suggested another inverter and controller.
It is made by Power One.
www.power-one.com/renewable-energy/wind-inverters.php
There are different size inverters and they will MPPT windmill power.
It looks good and I have this brand of inverter on our new solar panel system and it works great. It even came with software to record the data and download it to computer via USB. The inverter records the data and stores it and you can download as well. no more having to have your computer on all the time.
I only see a few problems.
I would like to see what everyone eleses thoughts are?
the voltage range is o to 400vac 3 phase.
Hmmm more wires from the mill would be needed.
Operating MPPT input voltage is 50 to 530 Volts ac.
Activation voltage is 200v but adjustable from 50v to 350 v
max current 16A
Problems that come to mind are:
It only takes ac voltage. This can be over come by no rectifying at the mill.
Voltage range. My mill is setup for 48v now I have not used my mill yet but guess the voltage will go over 50v easily enough but maybe using unmodified stators would be the go?
Think they would be operating at about 150v?
Amps would not be a problem would they? We would only see 16amp if rectified to DC before the wind controller.
I am inexperienced with this stuff so far so I thought I would share my thoughts and would welcome input be it positive or negative.
Can I change dc back to 3 phase ac or too hard or to many losses?
If it is no good then I guess I will stick with the Latronics gear.Energy Matters seems to be doing sale prices at the moment.
Regards
Green Thumbs

Bloke selling a PVE1200 (more than adequate for the job of an F&P dual)
I have one works like a champ
go to energy matters forum in bits for sale
9 months old asking $1000.
all the change can go into the next mill!
forget the power one massive overkill for the f&PLuck favours the well prepared

Thanks Karlj for the heads up.
Looks like I missed out on the second hand inverter but I got a lead on the same inverter brand new for $1500 well over $500 cheaper than I have seen.
In the above post when I said Latronics pve2500 I ment pve1200. whoops.
At $1500 that seals the deal.
Thanks again.
I think I will add the find to price watch page.

Price was always what it was on the site.
greenway energy has them for $1518 I recall.
Bargain if thats what you need, not so a bargain when you compare it to
a CMS2000 at $1750, that you can load up with 2600W panels!
$/W inverter tough to beat.
I hear the CMS 10KW inverter is trade price at $4K bargain!Luck favours the well prepared
