Hi, I am new to this forum, and windmills in general. I have a F & P motor with 0.8mm windings, that I am NOT planning on rewiring. I am wondering what rpm I need to spin it at to extract maximum power, and what the corresponding unrectified 3 phase line to line voltage would be. I feel really silly about having to ask these questions, and under normal circumstances would have tested the motor myself, but i am unable to do that for a few weeks, and i need to design a circuit to connect to the motor now. On my Lenz2 windmill I have a standard 80 series, and I get charging voltage at 20 rpm. So that works out to 0.6 volts per RPM. So 100 RPM gives 60 volts, 200 rpm gives 120 volts ( will kill you easily, so be carefull ), 500 rpm = 300v, 1000 rpm = 600 v, etc. Above 1000 rpm ( 466Hz AC )performance starts to degrade due to inductance, lamination saturation, etc. 500 RPM is a good reliable speed to start with. Hi, thanks for your response. So these voltages that you have quoted, are they are line-to-line RMS voltages? Just checking!! Cheers Niall. |
