Hi Guy's , new to this stuff, I have just finished converting my old F&P washer motor from a description on the net, I think I have seen the same concept on this site as well. I found after converting it the resistance from the magnets to turn is rather strong and I do not think the water supply I have will be sufficient to turn the Pelton I made. Before I pull it a part and go over all the wiring to ensure I have it correct, can you tell me what strength in the turning to expect after the conversion. It was much more free-er before I converted it, I did note that some wires from one coil to another where overlapping and touching, perhaps that is the issue!. Any help appreciated

Hi Lez

Welcome to the forum.

Sounds like there is something wrong. With nothing connected to the output, the F&P should be as easy to spin as it was before it was modified.

So you may have a short, or misplaced a wire or two.

Thanks for that, thought it strange, I figured a wire is touching somewhere in the whole shemozzle, but not knowing what to expect from it all, had to ask the Q. Once I get this sorted will post a Pic of the set up.

Hi Lez.
They work very well re wired and hooked up to all sorts of things. Here's one I did for a mate running off an old steam boat style paddle wheel. Pokes out a couple of amps. Not earth shattering, but a couple more amps he didn't have before

Thanks for the Pic Pete, as a kid growing up in Blackball I fully understand the quantity of water that is available on the west coast, neat set up.
