Hiya Guy's, Well the first attempt with the plastic blades proved worthless as the blade profile was all wrong and it wouldn't get any decent speed so I made up a 7 ft 2 blade prop using Alton's blade calculator and made a new tower out of 2 sliding door rails tek-screwed together and the tower is just under 7 metres. Below is a photo of the new setup and today I'm busy chopping down a few trees to give the genny clean air but bloody Murphy struck again no wind since I put it up yesterday.When I put a battery to the terminals to check out the direction I noticed it wasn't spinning that fast when 12 volts was supplied to it so it should be perfect for the nife batteries and I've beefed up the dump load to cope with any extra power once the batteries are fully charged. . Now wouldn't you know it, I shorted the motor when I put it on the pole and the wind was blowing that much the blade was spinning around 40 rpm according to my rpm gauge. Now when I got the mast up and setup everything to take some voltage/amperage reading the bloody wind stopped and hasn't blown since. Anyway below is a photo of the genny.
