MEZ mohelnice
asynchr.mot. 3-3ap71-48
no.4276840 ip44b37b5
0.25kw/0.34hp S1 50hz
y/a380/220V 1380t/min
the problem is a bit i dont know anything of electrics so my uncle going to help me a bit ( if he got time ) so i am looking for some help.
thx already |

hi Droopy
i,m wondering about your motor too.. ...its hard to be sure but it kindof looks like a regular ac electric motor , if it is , it wont be much help to you..these motors dont have permanent magnets
heres a basic test you can try....
if you can ... try finding the input connectors (possibly 3) and join them together , then try spinning the shaft a little by hand .....
if it spins up easily (and runs on a bit after you stop)...it,s probabely just a regular motor and wont generate anything.......
if it gets much stiffer to spin when the wires are shorted ..then you might have something to play with ... ...get you uncle to try this..it wont take long.. Edited by niall1 2009-09-30 niall |

Niall,
its tru, motor just keep spinnig around
Now whats the best and easyiest to connect...blades, electric, tower. PMG? smartdrive? Amtek? Treadmill? Big steppermotor?
PMG i would take 20 magnets these : http://www.supermagnete.be/S-15-08-N
These take around 6.7kg. low flux?
What u guys think is the best ? |

no easy answer for this droopy...
but heres a few thoughts
blades....good news ,for a small mill you can make simple ones from wood or even pvc pipe ..that works for some (basic hand tools needed)
electric....read up about battery charging ,basic electricity (ac/dc rectification)
tower...you,ll need a reasonable good site to start with (it,s no good without some wind... ),..you might need a friend with a welder and basic metal working tools
pmg....its a big project... ,have a good (long long ) look through this forum ,the fieldlines forum on otherpower and Hugh piggotts site ..the magnets (S-15-08-N) you were thinking of look a bit small for an axial alt.....if thats what you were thinking of trying ?
smartdrive/ametek 30v....unforunately these are very hard (nearly impossible) to get in europe ,no easy way there
threadmill/big stepper ...these do turn up on ebay..but you need to research the type you need (voltage rating, rpm etc) maybe others could advise on this ,a lot of them arnt suitable (no matter what the seller says.. )
most important dont part with any euros till you researched (i.e. has anyone else tried it ) as much as you can !..
reading up will save you cash ...i wish i did a lot more...
ps.. sorry about the edits ..still thinking about your question...Edited by niall1 2009-10-01 niall |

droopy-
if you look on ebay search for "fanuc motor" around 150 of em will show up. a stellar wind power motor went this morning with no bids $50 for the motor and $40 for the shipping... maybe he'll sell it even though the auction is done...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220486656 329&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
i have a larger version of this motor, and just by doing simple pre-liminary tests, i think it may be capable of upwards of 1000 watts. they have a built in brake that must be removed, but it's easy.
another one that isn't quite as cheap but still up for auction:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=390100422 611&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
don't worry about the broken part on this one, you'll remove it anyways.
i met with a wind guru last week with this type of motor, and he was pretty impressed! he told me i couldn't buy the magnets alone for the price i paid for the whole rig if i was gonna try doing a axial flux type.
good luck! lemme know if you get one, i can help you through removing the brake ect...
i pee more than once before flushing, and don't have to flush at all up at the ranch! |

Hi There,
I think you might be better if you build a mini mill as a learning point.
This will teach you a lot for little exspence.
It will allow you to learn somethings about electrics and blades. also will show how these things behave in the wind, with a good indication of how much wind you think you have.
You might find building a bigger one is not worth it in the area you wish to put it in.
A stepper motor out of an old computer drive or a early model printer or whatever you can find. Make some blades and a tail, put it together and fly it.
Charge some nicad batterys and power a few leds from them.
The information you will learn will be valueable and then decide on the bigger project.
This way you will have a lot of fun and the cost will be next to nothing.
Call it research and learn to walk before you try to run.
Have a look on the forum front page i think Gizmo done this with a stepper motor and i am sure he learnt a lot from his research.
Good luck.
Pete. Sometimes it just works |
