Has anyone heard of Nyerimilang? It's off the hyway from Bairnsdale to Lakes Entrance. I dropped into to say gday and ask about this huge piece of kit. By my estimates its on a 30m freestanding tower and is in the range of 20KW+ (my est). I has a rectangular cowling over the generator assembly and has pitch control on the blades, the tail has an "H" on it. The farm manager said it was designed to pump water with a submersible electric pump in an adjacent bore, problem was that the bore ran dry after about 2mins of pumping, then required 40mins for the bore to recover. Later some of the control equipment was stolen and as a result the turbine has been shut down. You would need a BIG crane to take it down, the tower in two pieces, one about 20M the top section about 10M. Its sitting on about 500T++ of concrete from my (estimation)pad is about 3mx3m and apparently 4-5m deep. SO.....the thing is for sale. He is open to offers but the "new" price was $145K installed about 10years ago. I'm estimating it would cost a few thousand just to take it down, let alone move it and re-install it. I'm guessing it will go for SCRAP value and you would have to take it down. I have the managers email address but other than what is above he has NO data whatsoever. Luck favours the well prepared |

FYI it was sourced from Europe about 10 years ago, has three blades and a "normal" furling type tail. Luck favours the well prepared |

Now if only I had a few thousand $ and a crane. I wonder if the farmer is aware he could possibly grid tie the thing and make some money. Maybe he should have a chat to the local electricity board. Glenn The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago, the second best time is right now. JAQ |

He's "over it" or at least the manager is. Apparently owned by a guy who ownes a (spaghetti, fruit, dog food etc) canning operation (among many other things. So a few years back money was no object, just that the bore was no good screwed him. Luck favours the well prepared |

i got some ballpark prices crane $ 8000 - $ 11,000 oversize load on a semi trailer ( 20 metre tower ) $ 3400 cherry picker hire at about $ 2400 fall arrestors and safety harness fitters truck required with 60 CFM air compressor , 1 1/2 inch drive rattle gun and oxy acetylene ready in case of rusted bolts then what happens if you book everyone for the job but the wind comes up........ everybody goes home without doing any work coz you dont go up 35 meters in a cherry picker if its windy and you still have to pay everyone , and the crane guys would probably ask for half a days hire even if they only sit there for 30 minutes. compare the costs above to just buying a brand new 30 KW wind turbine from china for $ 17,000 complete and ready to go with controllers and everything ![]() notice the blades are facing the wrong way they either have a damaged pitch control or somebody has been up there to manually rotate the blades to prevent it operating. nice dream anyway |
