Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

hi Karlj

this reply is a bit late but its very hard to tell the condition of the alt by just a pic like that....
it could be fine but without seeing it disassembled its impossible to tell

depending on materials used axials can need periodic maintenance checks for stator alignment (rubbing problems) and possible magnet corrosion (environment)..bearing wear etc

a close up pic of the magnet rotors would have been better...were they nickle or epoxy coated ? was polyester or epoxy used to pot them ? and so on ....

i,ve seen one or two that cut corners on basic things which shortened their life a lot....i,ll include myself in that category ... Edited by niall1 2009-11-07
