Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

I have seen these advertised on E-Bay and was wondering if anyone had any opinion

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/300W-GRID-TIE-INVERTER-12v-230v-SOLAR -PANEL-arrina_W0QQitemZ250515664893QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAU_Gad gets?hash=item3a53e5affd

They can take up to 28VDC input. Not sure re the reliability but they are rated at 300W (600W max) so could be useful as a way to tie in a 24VDC F&P system onto the grid.

I would be planning to use 2 x 12V batteries in series to handle the dips and swings of the F&P output.

Any Comments?

Dave

Oh - An update on this. On some adverts they says 90-130V on other 190-250. The unit has a switch on it to select the power range output

Hope this helps

I looked into this and even bid on a couple, figured for $10 plus postage couldnt hurt to try one, think it went for about $40 and $60 postage.
or buy it now free postage for $229.

They are not certified for use in AUS, thus could feasibly be stopped in customs and you've blown your $$.

I know they're expensive and require a sparkie but a LAtronics seems to work for Phill and other users run them too, some batteries (48V) a PL20 charge controller all of a sudden you're out $3K but legal and probably enough for you to expand into a mini wind farm.

Note that it does say 14-28V (solar panel) as open circuit no load the panels will get much higher than rated for MMPT, but 28V cont may cause it drama.

I emailed the guy and he insisted NOT to use any batteries so sure as the sun shines direct connection would have no clamp on the mill and my guess is "the smoke would get out"

As far as someone using one I haven't found any posts to that effect.Edited by KarlJ 2009-11-15
