Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

I was asked for some details on my two towers.
Here ya go. No serious engineering calculations regarding the build. Used what I had available and tried to stay within the limits of the material.
I will say that after erecting my second tower 14ft taller using same 5 1/2" ID tubing, it’s all it can handle when tilted in down position with gen head on the end. It would need additional back bone added on both sides of the pivot to keep from bending.

No cables to anchor. Towers are very stable. A little flex with hard wind gusts but nothing to worry about.

The shorter tower will be raised to same as second in spring. Taller one gets alot more wind action.

How much is in the ground and how much concrete?

Looks pretty light, what I had in mind originally but got canned by the boys here on the forum as not being strong enough.

Yours much taller at 50' than what I had in mind at 24'.

Gives me confidence to build what I wanted and more.
cheers

Hello Karlj

6ft in the ground and about 2 yard of concrete.

Per my sketch. The lighter sections of the pole handle load at about 16ft above ground were the pivot starts. The lower 16ft section is the heavy 8" dia. So in reality, only 34ft of the lighter 5 1/2dia tubing is carrying the load.

Again I must say it does flex in the wind at hard gusts but nothing that I think wouldn’t be acceptable and well within normal function. If you really want rock solid you could add 3 cable rings toward the top and once winched up anchor it down at 3 points.
I added to sketch.
