Yes I am a newbie. hence all the posted questions.

I have about 8 servo motors various sizes all the way up to 60 amps. My question is are they the best way to go for home made wind power or is there a better alternative. I have two towers up using GE Fanuc models that doo fairly well.
I don�t have exposure to any other generator type so I am officially ignorant outside of what I have built.

Also: I had a large servo that I thought was too heavy for home built tower so I connected it to an 8hp gas engine for generator. It works great for a backup power supply (at least going through a bridge rect and into by battery bank) but it does not work as an ac generator as I get about 200kHz freq. Works ok at 120v for incandescent lighting but that�s it.

Basically any input regarding servo motors would be greatly appreciated.

Servo motors are great for wind turbines. They have no cogging, well sealed with good bearings, and should last a long time. If you have them, then use them, you wont get much better for a windmill. The problem with servo motors is they are hard to find for average Joe and very expensive new.

The only suggestion I have is protect them from the weather, while the shafts usually have seals, some servos have exposed laminations and these can start rusting.

Hey if you looking for servos check out this surplus site. They have alot. Some even new in the box from some business that had it on the shelf for machinery replacement and never used.
