Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Here's Some pictures of a couple Turbines I built out of wood and PVC blades, saw blades, and a bike wheel bearing. This is an old one I couldn't ever get the chain to stay on so I gave up on it but when it did work it worked pretty good. Since then I've changed to a treadmill motor just haven't taken any pictures of it yet. Blades are 3.5 feet long. But the new one with the treadmill motor has been up for several months and has gone through several large 40+mph storms with no furling. When the ground dries up I'll probably take it down because It hardly every gets above 10volts right now.
Below is the first one I built with just 2 2foot PVC blades and no kind of generator.
And below are some turbines that are somewhat close to me located in Butler County, Kansas.
Hopefully Image sizes are small enough I think their all around 100kb and less.Edited by GreenD88 2010-02-14Licensed Master Plumber / EPA 608 Universal License / 410a Safety Certified / Medical Gas Brazer/Installer

I like the ones with the saw blades!
going to be tough cutting lumbar behind the prop, not sure if it would make enough torque to cut wood.
Blade angles look kind of horrific, but i guess it turns.
Times like these we are thankful for our precious extrusions with great airfoils.
Whats next? Luck favours the well prepared

Well I got my welder finally wired up so I can make an actual metal frame now. Thinking about an axial flux with wood blades. I also want to make a small Windmill Air Compressor. And yea it was kinda hard to cut those small blades with a PortaBand saw. But it flew great and was extremely quite. It was just so small and kinda of a test for the blades really to see if they would actually work.Licensed Master Plumber / EPA 608 Universal License / 410a Safety Certified / Medical Gas Brazer/Installer

Yea I cut the 4 bladed one with a circular saw and they turned out pretty good. And the rear disc was originally planing on making a mini axial flux generator out of it.Licensed Master Plumber / EPA 608 Universal License / 410a Safety Certified / Medical Gas Brazer/Installer
