Good Evening
This past weekend I was able to view some large commercial wind generators that are operating to the west of me. Impressive! I don't know how many KW these things were but they were just slowly doing their thing. I would guess the blade diameter to be 150 to 200 ft. By my imprecise calculations they were turning 70 rpm is a gentle breeze.. I want one!!!! Oh wouldn't the neighbors have a fit.
Always windy, always flat, always good.

Hi Jaybar

That site and the dedication of the community is an inspiration we should all be doing this where ever there is suitable sites available, to sit back and rely on government and industry to solve the problems of the power crisis isn't good enough, I also like Gordons approach with as many solar panels as possible to help the situation as many drops fill a bucket so a lot of small contributions will help, we also need inovation and determination to improve the efficiency of how we do things as it is much easier to save electricity that generate it. I feel if industry was encouraged to utilize the huge roof areas of factories to supply some of their power even if it isn't base line power it would all help.

Off my soap box.

All the best

Did you get the doctor to take the photos. These windmills may be replaced several time over by the time the photos are taken :)

It seems to be cloudy when most pics of windmills are taken.

I see. Elk River is a 150 Megawatt Farm, and Are GE's Turbines Model 1.5. Smokey Hill was originally 100.8 Megawatt's worth of Vesta Model V80 Wind turbines and in late 2008 they added 150 Megawatt's of GE's Model 1.5SLE Turbines.

Kansas Has 8 farms projected at 1,016 Megawatts of Wind Power, and has proposed around 52 more farms equaling ~8904.5 Megawatts. If we got half of those I would be happy :) Plus there are a lot of small wind turbine projects in the works to for schools and such. Which Total 1,627.4 Kilowatts.
