The latest Jaycar catalogue is out, and I see thay have expanded their range of wind, solar and inverter gear.

One thing caught my eye, a 50watt vertical windmill! It looks like a modified savinous, 655mm high by 280mm diameter. It needs a lot of wind to work, so much I was wondering if its a missprint. It says "Effective with wind speed of 8 - 10m/s", thats a range of about 29kmh to 36kmh! I had a look on the Jaycar web site, but its not listed there yet.

They are stocking a lot of inverters, including grid connect.

Sweeet - I'll have to grap a pile of catalogues for the boys when I'm next in there

Jaycar might have slipped somewhat in the last few years in terms of hard core electronics, but I smell a revival, and expanding into growing markets is a good sign. I quite enjoy visiting the guys at my local Jaycar for a laugh and a good ribbing

As far as i can see jaycar aren't selling any grid tie inverters, ie ones that can export power into the grid.

Those "super-combi" made by rich electric units are actually more like a super UPS. Meaning that they can act as a battery charger and an inverter, with additional solar regulator built in.
Altronics were selling them for a while. I installed a 12v 1500W + 120Ah AGM battery in the father in law's caravan.
He's been very happy with it so far
