The F&P is a proven performer. Keep up the good work. Give your self plenty of clearence between the blades and mast.
Looking forward to your progress.

Nice setup, perhaps roll off a bit of that tilt 1' should be heaps with those blades.

I couldnt be bothered working out if your cap doubler is good but looks about right.
MMM with those blades a
100S wired in 2x7C Delta would make some wicked grunt for the top end and I'm thinking a stock rewire in 7x2c would give a really early cutin to boot.
Only time will tell.

Phill was adamant with mine that an 80 and 100 combo was the go, but i didnt reckon there was much in it, the two 100S one in star the other delta would have been AOK.

FIgures mate figures!!!

Caps are 330uf 400v two for each phase motors at the moment are 100 in delta and
80 2X7C star.
Have noticed one cuts in early not sure which but stalls blades am going to change the 80 to delta and hope I get the right one.
The best figures so far is when I disconected one stator let it spin up a bit then reconected it it held for about 10 seconds at 18 amps 26 volt was furling though.
not looking to set any records would be nice if it lasts A goood bloww which it has not seen yet.
this time of year is the worst for wind here and am sad to say most of my power comes from this.

and the switch could not carry
the current hope you like the mods was a little at the time.

Hi Shawn

I have one of "those", and I have to say its been a real blessing at times

Not only good for charing a low battery bank, its also handy for starting a car with a flat battery.

Good pics.

Hmmm, is that a current ..whoops! or an old Whoops, you have posted above.

Either way it looks like a sad moment.

Its a bit hard to tell in the photo, but it looks as if the clamps on the guy wires are upside down to, there is an old saying with using cable clamps that should be remembered............. "Never saddle a dead horse"......the saddle should be on the live line and not on the tail end side of the cable.

By saying the saddle it reffers to the metal bit the U bolt goes through, and the U bolt being the girth of the saddle that goes around the belly.

It may not be huge concern in this application but its still worth remembering for future installations.

The 100S in Delta will make good grunt into 48V, split it in half for 24V and double the amps!
go for the 80S in delta in 2x7C this will give plenty of grunt and an early cut in with the caps to boot and the 100S, go for broke,
2x7C in delta too.

Believe me I just doubled the output of that mill!
Look through F&P testing threads for every possible combo, with the CAPS you cant go wrong, what would have been a pig without them, makes it a machine that will match the wind power very well indeed.

I run an 80S 2x7C in star and a 100S in Delta into 48V thus, yours will run a config for half the volts and double the amps better
ie as suggested 2x7C delta for the 80S and 2x7C delta for the 100S too.
with this config I forsee a solid 22-24Amps.
It will make that at 500-600rpm and up.
I set mine to furl at about 700rpm thus even when spooling up and down with the furling action still making a solid 12A into 55V+ or 600W. (instantaneous) and if this happens over an hour would be 600W/hr.

Your help has been great karl but still cut in to fast with the 80 in half so made it 7x2c in star. with the 100 s 2x7c delta seams to work well with my blades getting 22 amps at 26.5 volts so much improved. Little woble with tower/tail so must re balance when it slows down gales up to 130 km hour for next to days acording to weather man

Shaw

I like the distance you have between your blades and mast.

Once bitten twice shy so true.

Your mill is awesome, nice job.

OK weather not funny anymore several 20 plus year old pine trees down had to abandon mill to tie horse float to the ground and cheak house etc when left mill was reading 40 amps @ 27 volts Is this possible with my setup? reading karls posts this should not happen?? also volts are not being clampt with bank it rests at 26.5 but when mill goes hell crazy it goes up to as far as 33 this bank is 1000 amp hours mmmmm much to learn
and the recs and caps are very warm almost hot
these toys arent funny when they behave like this scary.

Exciting stuff.

Yes there are moments when things get crazy, lot of power in the wind. I've been to scared to approach my windmill once or twice before. Wind turbines can take on a life of their own, one minute they are placid, gently rotating in the wind, the next minute thay are bucking around like a wild horse, the best you can do is get the furling right and build the things strong enough to survive.
