I am doing a wind turbine install up behind Brisbane at a property that has been off - Grid for 25years+ , and this little Gem of an Old time Mini Mill caught my eye sitting on top of an old gate post. It's made from an old bike front wheel Dynamo that we probably all had as kids, with the light mounted to the side and looks to be like the mother of self powered garden lighting and has definitely see better days. True Blue Aussie Bush ingenuity and a total Classic . ![]() ![]() PhillM ...Oz Wind Engineering..Wind Turbine Kits 500W - 5000W ~ F&P Dual Kits ~ GOE222Blades- Voltage Control Parts ------- Tower kits |

Wow, this brings back some memories. Probably some of my earliest experience with a generator (and the work it takes to turn one). They were good on a long downhill run as I recall. Pretty cool, and in the second picture you would know it wasn't still tracking the wind. ~ks |

Ks, If it had blades it might probably still spin, and was still tracking the wind when I took the pic. I think it is even mounted on a bike bearing hub, I just thought of the person building it some 30 years ago and the expectation of having the garden light up at night ![]() ![]() PhillM ...Oz Wind Engineering..Wind Turbine Kits 500W - 5000W ~ F&P Dual Kits ~ GOE222Blades- Voltage Control Parts ------- Tower kits |
