Its a whole new world living below zero and even more so when you are isolated from close support. I was involved in a project where we build a camp for 200 people up the top of Siberia. The average winter temp was -40C. We take for granted how much is involved in a living below zero. For instance "all" the sewer lines had to have thermal heating wires run with them so the waste didnt freeze going down the pipes. Everything and i mean everything had to have heating from the store room to the toolshed. All vehicals were plugged in to power when parked or they wont start (Frozen block). As its 24 hour darkness 1/2 the year its a lot of lighting 24 hours a day. It all adds up fast. Pete. Sometimes it just works |
