If you are younger than 40 years you will not remember the launch of voyager I and II
The first close up pictures of Jupiter and Saturn was the prime mission of the Voyager
Spacecraft, and excellent pic's were received at mission control." EDIT" "The radio signal needs 16 hours to make the trip. (16 light hours). In 18030 Earth years at the present velocity this craft will be 1 light year away from earth.""EE
Well that was 33 years ago. the voyager was aimed for deep space after leaving the planets behind and are still in contact with NASA JPL.
An interesting threshold is approaching.

Yeah I remember Voyager. I was only 4 when NASA had the first moon landings, so that was a bit of a blur, but I clearly remember the Voyager deep space missions and the Viking missions to Mars. I grew up watching Carl Sagans Cosmos TV program, and remember the flyby photos of Jupiter.

The fact that these two deep space probes are still working, and so far away, is a credit to the team who put them together.

Hi Glen;
Billion's and Billion's of stars. We are Made of Star stuff!.

I Recorded the TV show "Cosmos" on Video Tape many years ago. Just last May I dug it out and transferred it to DVD, The Tape had lost a lot of quality and it was not a good recording "Bad TV reception" However, the voice is still in tact.

What a voice he had to inspire Wonder in a Child's Mind.
That was a time when the US.Was capable of doing great things. I Miss them.
