Idiots in Government

People have been critical of me calling government and politicians idiots that should be drowned in their own sh*t. This letter I received today from a friend who will remain unnamed for repercussions it is as received, and I will not comment on the abject stupidity herein, it is about time something was done to educate or get rid of this element in our society.

There have been some amazingly great stories come out of the floods. But there are also the ones which will never be told because in this country we tolerate idiots in government jobs and no one wants to point the finger in case it somehow blows up in their face.

Sorry, but at my age, I have become totally disenchanted and someone needs to tell it like it is, so I will start the ball rolling. Please join with me to lift the lid on idiots with uniforms.

Take Qld transport. In Dalby district.

Dalby hit the news with a record flood in the Condamine River which damaged the water treatment plant. Water needed to be trucked into town in the middle of the flood. Truck drivers worked hard to get us water.

Officers from Qld Transport booked drivers for so called over-

loading .......... what Idiots.

Who pays? It'll get squashed and probably has already, but what a waste of resources at a time when manpower was critical.

Some farmers, who were crossing a road with a tractor to feed starving, flooded stock were pulled up, the tractor measured, and they were booked because it was slightly wide.

Not only that, they were forced to leave the tractor and go to town to get an over wide permit before they could move it back into the farm.

This happened on an already closed road where the farmer was the only person around. Except for the idiots.

These are not rumours. They are facts.

This morning, I was booked for driving down a closed road to check livestock which were reported to be out on the road and at the same time, pick up my employee who had walked over the bridge to come to work.

My house happens to be 50 m past the road closed sign, so apparently I cannot even go in and out my gate. I tried to reason amicably with 2 idiots. Of course I got more than a little agitated when they refused to let me down the road to my farm. As a result they pulled a tape recorder, so I made sure it recorded their stupidity. I even had to insist they returned my driver’s license. I'll definitely win the court battle as my employee witnessed the whole affair. But what a waste of time and resources.

Over the last 3 weeks, there have been Qld Transport officers stationed outside our farm, booking innocent locals.

For about 8 days, two blokes sat in a vehicle with the engine idling and hazard lights on 24/7. That would be 3 shifts, plus motel and other costs.

Now most of these blokes were reasonable people. I had to chat with them every time I went out my gate. Some were idiots like my experience this morning. But the real idiots in this case are the people who sent them out here to guard an obviously flooded and closed road and never bothered to check when the water went down; just left them there.

We, the taxpayers, pay them to be there and also pay fines for trying to get on with our lives in tough times.

I wrote the above in the hour before I went to Brisbane to help clean up the mess in our flooded premises there.

While in Brisbane, I was told a true story about the truck drivers delivering food to Gympie.

As happens in times of desperate need, trucks rolled out of the Brisbane warehouses stacked with as much as they could get in.

After all, the media was screaming for food for Gympie.

Queensland Transport then intercepted the trucks and fined the drivers for overloading.

What Senior Idiot in Qld Transport decided he could solve Queensland’s financial crisis by fining drivers?

They sent dozens of men out to embarrass the Government when they could have been helping people in need.

Also, did you hear about the farmer who was ferrying food and other essentials for himself and neighbours across the flooded Condamine? Well, the SES and Police decided it was their job.

Apparently it is illegal for us farmers to even launch our boats to help ourselves or rescue our livestock. So they sent him home after warning him that if he continued to help, they would prosecute.

As he was putting his boat back on his trailer on the other side of the river, he heard horns blowing and looked back to where he had been sent away from. There were the professional idiots, in the middle of the river, sinking. So, as we normal citizens are stupid, he had to re-launch his boat and go back and rescue them.

Apparently they had forgotten to put the plugs in the bottom of the boat and their training had not taught them how to simply put them in after they discovered it and then how to bail the boat out.

He should have let them drown. That would be called "natural selection".

But again, they had been sent out with an attitude rather than real training. So who is at fault? Need I answer that?

As I said at the start, there have been many, many great deeds by the vast majority of people, but when a society gets to the point where ordinary people are stopped from helping each other and are forced into submission by bureaucrats, then I ask, Where are we going?

Please add your stories and keep this going. Somehow, we have to reverse the stupidity which makes our nation the dumbest in the modern world. Our great grandfathers would be appalled.

Hi Bob;

I read your post and agree in principal, However, Behind the scenes are consequences of an act that is illegal or generally unsafe to carry out.

For the sake of discussion a counter view of a situation should be presented.

We are treading on the border of "Nixed" political content in this Forum.
The effect of overloaded vehicles on a water saturated roadbed Could add a substantial amount of monetary cost to the flood damage total.
Fording a Stream of unknown current velocity and rapids can quickly kill.
The police have the responsibility to protect the public from themselves and they have no magic way of knowing that that person is not an Idiot since as we know most of them are these days. they are trying to do their Job as they were instructed.
Discretion is not Taught. The Law is the Law.

Hi greenbelt

What you say would be good if the powers that be grounded the convoy instead of fining them and letting them go on their way.
This isn't a political statement as such, just a letter from a farmer fed up with the incompetence and stupidity of public serpents and their appointed tax collectors.

All the best

Well over here in SA farmers along the Murray River are screaming the SA idiots won't let them increase their water allowance so they can be productive food growing farms again. Instead they are going to bring in a law where farmers MUST pay $2,000 for a meter and put it on their dams then pay for the water. Although it hasn't passed in idiotism, the nazi cops are already going out to farms demanding farmers buy these meters. And yes they also have the rainwater tank meters back on the agenda after it was laughed out the first time. Also our so called esteemed next in line was found outside a gay club with a bloody face after a patron gave him a real welcome.

Reality the idiotism will keep going on as the gerrymander will never die.

Hi Bryan

I had a similar experience when I lived in Victoria nearly 40 years ago, water resourses charged me for the water in my dam, so I asked why , they said as it was runoff water not rain that fell on my property it belonged to them so I had to pay, so I sent them a bill for storing their water in my dam, as I had proof that it was theirs, this went on until I left the Police state in 1979, I believe that the same principal would apply to water tank stored water.

Money hungry asset grabbing Nazis all of them.

Hi Bob
That other story about Qld police patrol cars and Speed cameras was used just after Toowoomba and Lockyer valley flood disaster and I caught a female police officer using lidar laser police gun hiding behind a street pole at the corner of Taylor and McDonald Road Toowoomba and booking many drivers and some of them many of floods victims who lost their homes. Whatever happened to their life like myself and my two boys 10 & 15 got caught in the rising flood and got stuck on the hill with a fire& Recuse Truck which also just got out of the rising floods opposite me on the other side of the hill. The Fire & Rescue truck and myself both got stuck on the hill for 2 hours. During the time my kids was listening to the truck’s mobile and two way radio where there were people screaming and crying for help. Some of victims on the roof who had disappeared, which was a very stressful time for everyone.including my number of sleepless night because of my two kids suffering some trauma of listening people's life was in danger of rising flood. Anyhow i did scream at two police officers out my car window telling them to get rid of their stupid camera and leave everyone alone especially for those that have been affected by the floods because they cant afford to pay an unnecessary fine. It’s the stupid politician’s idea as they have no feelings for those that have suffered by the floods, as long as their okay. I hate 2 faces Politician long as l live.

Hi Dwyer

it is a sad experience you and many others have been exposed to, some of my friends are in the same situation, And I have nightmares about what they told me and I wasn't even there, This is a traumatic time for the valley with so many still missing.

I can understand your anger at the action of the police, but remember they are like trained dogs snapping at people to please their trainers, not to excuse their action but to stress that the real idiots in our midst are training them to do just that.

It hasn't gone unnoticed however I post a letter to the PM on this very subject, it may or may not be acted on, but if not all the posing and prancing will not do her any good in the eyes of the local people.

It's time for us to stand up and stop playing their stupid games.

Dear Prime Minister.
With Respect
Why should we the people have to pay this flood tax of yours when there seems to be some pretty heavy handed taxing going on where the victims themselves are being fined for protecting their immediate homes neighbours & property from your heavy handed revenue raisers? Can you please explain this to those whom you wish tax when you are already doing a pretty good job of without it, and also to those whom you are supposed to be helping who apart from being ruined are then copping crap like this below?

These just sent to me from Dalby are some stories from the flood that will never be told!! Please I urge you all to read them & do not just brush them aside!! Please send them again far & wide! This is not the Australia we once knew, it is fast becoming foreign to us all!!
Kevin Mitchell

This along with a lot more expressions of distaste will be sent over the next few days.

All the best

You're right, The same kind of thing is practiced here in the states, The interstate truck drivers are subject to fines for overloading, a citation is given, the fine is paid, the truck continues its journey tearing up thousands of highway miles. with the same illegal load. It is obvious the welfare of the road is not the Intent.
A logical government would use this Law to protect the peoples investment by Holding this vehicle until the extra weight was removed by the people who loaded it. and directing the fine to them also. $10,000 would be about right. The driver is paid to deliver and in most cases does not know anything about the load in his truck. wouldn't be long before the overloading habit stopped, The cop could then attend to other meaningful duties.

Bryan;
In my whole life I have never heard the word "Gerrymander", I thought for a time , it must be Aussie Slang. after a google, turns out to be a USA Original, circa 1812. If there is anyone who is stymied on this,Here is the Link.
