Hi,

Just because I got done like a dinner does not mean my friends of this forum have to suffer too!

Purchased a hail-damaged Toyota Corolla in March of last year. Renewal for the rego arrived in June. Pls note that dealers can get three month regos, you cannot! When I signed the Offer and Acceptance form, there was a code containing a '6' next to rego details.

When I had to sign a second document, a contract of sale, I did not read the fine print and I probably signed my life away there for a lousy three month rego. Thinking back I believe an Offer and Acceptance is the only document one signs to purchase a vehicle, but I could be wrong.

Toyota guarantees a so-called $130 service for every 10,000 km
OR SIX MONTHS
whichever comes earlier! Would they rotate the tires and do an oil/filter change if the car had only done 3,000 km in six months???

I cannot get the 10,000 km service done for $130 at the moment as the year is not out as yet and have to wait until March.

Have I lost the three year/100,000 km warranty because I have missed a six-monthly service? Do car companies play the game like that??

Hi Dom

Car dealers are only a couple of steps up from politicians and lawyers, so don't expect any fair deals out of them. March isnt far away mate so don't worry to much.

if all else fails take the to the consumer protection advocate, they don't like that, or you could make a placard and sit out in front of the dealership to protest.

All the best

Why would you service the car if it has only done 3000 k's. These are questions you should ask the dealer.Warranties aren't worth the paper they are written on anyway save yourself the money and worry and service the car yourself $130 for an oil and filter change . $15 for a filter $35 for oil, hour in the shed away from the missus...PricelessEdited by Poss 2011-02-19

Hi Dom
I do agree with Poss saving your money and service the car yourself as l did the same as my Ef falcon done nearly 450,000KM on the clock in five years and all service including brakes done myself and able save the cost of 2 tank fuel isteading paying $130 for service. do your math

Thanks for the many answers. I normally service vehicles myself; my only worry is the loss of "warranty" should I do so again and the negative reaction of a prospective purchaser if the car has not been "serviced" by the dealer and I wish to sell it.

A good thing with this Corolla is the absence of a cam belt. Must have a cam chain. With a Mitsubishi Diesel van I changed the belt myself but for a Mitsubishi Petrol van it just cost me $450. So I do not have the expense of $450 for every 90,000 km with the Corolla.
