Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

If the 18v ac has enough current to light up a 12 volt tail lamp at low rpm then I'd be fixing this "volt pack" as you call it. Charge the battery ASAP with an external charger because if you leave it flat for a few weeks you can kiss it good bye.

Hi Dastephan
It looks like your regulator rectifier has died, I think that's what you called the volt pack, As Robb suggested try a globe "12 v" across the output leads of the stator if the globe lights it is OK, don't go for a lot of revs as it will possibly blow the globe without a regulator in line, if the globe doesn't light it may be a bad stator or a bad joint in the circuit to the stator, measure with ohm meter to check.
All the best

A friend of mine is in the repair of motorbike electricals here, and the voltage regular modules often fail, if you have volts in and none out then it would indicate a dead regulator.
Check for voltage out close to the regulator as bad leads or plugs/sockets is also a big cause.
I often push a pin through the wires to use as a test point for checking if there is a break or bad connection in line some where.
Some modules are chassi earthed and this can also be where a problem is located with a poor earth.
Only working your way along the circuit will isolate where the problem is.
I doubt that it is the stator at fault.
Pete.Sometimes it just works

im a m/cycle mechanic and we had a run on 650 kawi dirt bikes back in 97 with bad star connections on the 3 phrase stators as they were cripped and not soldered together, plenty of volts unloaded but nothing loaded,to much varnish on the wires on the star connectionmatt
