AGL my electricity supplier is changing is prices.

Things never get cheaper so it seems.

However electricity in summer is now cheaper than electricity in winter.

Electricity used to be more expensive in summer,

Is this a side effect of all the solar systems being installed.

Hi Don

Maybe just your company as mine is the same all year, but they did tell me last time I spoke to them that it was going up another 30% at the end of the year, another 5.? cents a KWH.

They said that they now have a provision of off peak load electricity at 12 cents a KWH to run pumps airconditioner etc, compared to 8 cents for normal off peak electricity only for hot water services.

I don't think that the solar installations is making much difference to supply at the moment, and considering they are paying excess 50 cents KWH for excess feed in I cant see them selling that cheaper.

All the best

Bob

In South Australia the stat government pays 44 cents (warm fuzzy / pork barrelling payment) and the power companies pay 8 cents at day rate they sell it for about 25c (some people are prepared to pay more for green electricity)

Buy for 8 and sell for 25 while reducing the load on the infrastructure (in reality the electricity from my solar cells is likely to be used less than 100m away).

Looks like a workable business model to me.

Eventually the state government will get sick of paying me the 44c but this is little to do with the power company.
