Wow! 200+ million estimated population of toads. I also didn't know that dromedary camels are common in Australia. And I don't like cats (speaking about invasive species)!

From what i understand Oz has the purest race of camels left in the world.

I second you view on cats but we shouldnt say to much as Gizmo loves his old pussy cat.

There is a greeny nut in the Adelaide hills here that hates cats with a passion and his slogan is >>> Neighbours cats make great hats <<<<.

Thats a cute photo there Ian.

Yeah I was given my cat. A friend was leaving town and her cat needed a place to live, and I had a rat problem, so Bogie moved in. After having Bogie for the last 7 years, I can honestly say they are a efficient hunter. I do admire just how well a cat works, very well tuned bit of gear.

I wont get another cat after this one, I've seen too many dead animals show up at my place to know he's having a affect on the local wildlife. But he's my pet and fun company, and gets along with the dog just fine, so I'll take care of him.

I have to say though, if I had a neighbour who turned my cat into a hat, then that neighbour would find my axe embedded in his car's bonnet, after I used it to cut down all his trees.

I know that anger! The neighbors cat is hunting my baby rabbits every time and I saved my pigeons twice from his gears. I captured once, when I had my door open and the cat entered inside... but my daughter was there and she loves cats
So, the cat continue to hunt my baby rabbits and the pigeons, and I guard at least the pigeons as much I can.

In our country, the population is dense enough to not allow wild rabbits to become a pest, so domestic rabbits are a source of food here as are some breeds of pigeons (others are for entertainment and sport and are expensive).

Vasi you could always bait the cat with Asprin as it is toxic to cats, just like cats are toxic to baby rabbits.

Hi Vasi when l was about 14 years old around the year of 1957 use hop on my pushbike with my friends carry rifle with us to go hunting wild rabbits on the any farm land in Victoria for food not for fun and riding pushbike thought small country town and these days no-one was worry about us or panic ever the police didnt mind because the law wasn't apply these in old days and many farmer carry use to leave lying shotgun on back of ute while farmer went for drinking beer at the pubs as everyone could not careless about guns as this was normal way of life So now the law has change because new bred of city people start to panic if they see you carry gun or rifle and will contact the police and will be arrest on spot most of the police now scare if they dont feel comforable with you will be shot and gun or rifle will be confication and get fine by the court, go to prison and rifle and guns will be destroy and everyone must carried gun licence now if you need one so all freedoms is taken away now in Queensland is illegal to have pet rabbit as contest as pest will get very heavy fine like $20.000 ever l like to hunting for rabbit food is no more still the same stupid law so Govement want us go buy juck foods from supermaket and it all about money these days so what shame now

Hi guys,

I just wanted to ask why you don't hunt the rabbits, making food for restaurants, or organize hunting parties for tourists? In Romania, tourists pay us a fortune for the right to hunt in our forests and mountains (boars, chamois, even bears).
But I saw this and also too much meat is not good to health.

@Downwind, I didn't know that! Good to know, thanks.
@dwyer, you can use crossbows. You can find on internet a lot of DIY sites with construction plans. I confess I want to build one.

Hi Dwyer

I have a wild dog problem here to as people dump their unwanted pets in the bush and they join the wild dog pack and kill everything in sight. My neighbour had a german shepard and a Hienz dog and they both where killed by wild dogs, I have shot over 70 in the last few years but they still keep coming, they are worse than the dingoes.

There are some pesky ferel rabits down the back that I have been looking after, as we may need them in the future. There are quite a few ferral cats around but they die of lead poisoning when seen.
When I lived in Victoria we had a lot of rabbits so always had a freezer full.

Your little dog is a real cuty, mine is a miniture fox terrier, he is a pensioner dog so not much trouble at all.

All the best

Bob
