Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Bob
are you still using yours?
I bought a camping panel and it seems like a waste of $700 to not have it working for me every day. 120W= ~600+W a day as far as I'm concerned
and $90 is cheap.
not worried about any of the other concerns legalities etc more interested in whether its reliable
Cheers
BTW any word on the daughters in laws?
Our prayers are still with youLuck favours the well prepared

Hi Karl
I have found them quite reliable when hooked to a panel, conversion rate about 80% but will require about 20 volts to work properly, can get a bit hot on a hot day, I have had one not work from the box but think it may be a faulty 240 volt lead, but haven't checked it, I blew a fuse on one because I connected it direct to 24volt battery, so now use 470K bleed resistor across the switch to charge the caps slowly and keep them charged on battery use, also a 250000uf cap across the input helps the unit work better.
On the other post on these it was mentioned to allow more ventilation as they run hot, haven't done that yet as to busy trying to get the grass in check. Also a couple of resistors that need upgrading. For the money you cant beat them, but if you are serious about saving all the sparks you can a 600 watt one would be better, for an extra 50 bucks.
They found the inlaws cut off and having a joint nervous breakdown, and gone into hiding because of all the deaths they witnessed at Grantham, spoke to the son and he said his Dad watched as car loads of people got drowned and ripped to bits under the railway bridge, sent him off the deep end a bit, and then they found bodies in the back of his property, no help. They are undergoing council ling but its a long road to recovery.
Our other friends haven't been found and probably wont be now, unless a miracle, but certainly not alive. Thanks for the kind thoughts for all our flood affected on this side.
