Condolences to the people of Joplin Missouri, that was a nasty storm. The USA is having a tough time this tornado season, it seams like every second week we hear about more storm devistation and flooding.

Luckily in Australia we get very few large tornado's, but we do get big mother cyclones. But I would rather a cycone anyday over a tornado, I do feel sorry for the people in the USA who have to worry about those things. At least with cyclones you get a few days warning, and you can build a house strong enough to survive. Not much survives a tornado.

I to offer condolences to the people of the midwest USA, several states have been hit with tornado's this spring, hundreds of people killed many others injured and left homeless...the monster that hit Joplin was 3/4 of a mile wide and very nearly tore Joplin completly off the mapp.
It's this time of year to keep a weather channel playing in the background, and stay informed and updated...keep you'r head on a swivel sort of speek.

Yeah I live less than 45 minutes away from Joplin it is a very sad week, and only more tornadoes are predicted for this week.... We've had over 18 tornadoes since last week in Kansas alone. And several deaths.......... It was an F4 and at sometimes estimated at a F5. Tornado Photo Gallery It totally destroyed a 7 story Hospital.Edited by GreenD88 2011-05-26

Hi All in the USA

Our heart and concern go out to all of you in your time of trouble, the world is beset with disasters both man made and natural, we in Queensland have had our share as has the rest of Australia.

It seems that these natural disasters are becoming more intense as time goes on so we need to do what we can to protect family and friends, and also need a dose of good luck as well.

All the best

We saw our share of tornadoes in Oklahoma, USA today too. Lots of destruction, but few fatalities like Joplin. We were lucky. My wind turbine didn't last too long, but neither did my 14,000 pound tractor. Two 6 month old cars, home, all MIA. We drove VERY quickly to outrun it and returned in 15 minutes to a wasteland. It's just stuff that can be replaced. New turbine...what to build this time? Edited by philb 2011-05-26

Hi to all our USA freinds,
Those same forces providing hours of interest and pleasure at moderate levels can so quickly remind us of the potential power increase, when obsticles are blocking the way.I hope that it will allow the cream to rise to the top,and bring out the best in people like the flood response in Australia!Hope the homeless problems are kindly and quickly cared for.Our hearts go out to you all, kind regards Rastus

Philb,
My thoughts and prayers go out to you and you'r family, I am sorry for you'r loss. These tornato's are notheing to be taken lightly as you well know. They are like something straight out of hell, so unearthly, and very capable of indiscrimately takeing what it wishes.

Thanks, We will put something up until insurance pays off. Still no worries.I did find my turbine today.
I did not get a pic of the tower. It is made of 2 inch tube with three braces welded to that along its entire 30 foot length. It looked sheared off at the 10 foot level, like a metal saw blade had cut through it. BTW, I have a tractor for sale. You can buy the front, back or both.
LOL!!!

I think the tornado picked it up out of its tracks with a full load of gravel without spilling a rock. You Aussies are a tough bunch too. Typhoons flooded about half your country not too long ago. The shoe is on the other foot now. Still no worries for me. We are doing fine.Edited by philb 2011-05-27

Philb,
Seeing these picture puts a lump in my throat, I think you have a much better attitude that I, if I were in you'r place. A proper attitude will be a blessing for everyone else as they are in trying times too, they will need someone to lean on for support and comfort. Life has its ways of sneaking in and surpriseing us when we don't expect it.
I hope that area folks are there to lend a helping hand. You'r area had more tornados again last night , If I herd the news correctly. One brodcaster said that we've already had more twisters this year than the total for all last year.
I'm over 6 hours drive away, but if you need help let me know.
