Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Glenn, Just wondering if there would be enough interest to get a weather station logging site going(similar to mill logging). Would probably all have to use the same recording software. I use Cumulus (donationware) it will handle most weather stations and posts to web addresses. Have not used this ability, but have been using for many years, gets updated a few times a year and runs very stable. Any thoughts We come from the land downunder. Vic |

Been running private and professional weather sites since the mid 1980s, be happy to look into hosting something if there's some genuine interest. |

Would be prepared to help in any way. Just don`t know how, if was any plumbing or refrigeration skills needed could help. Could give some financial help perhaps. I guess will also depend on whether the members who may be interested will find this thread. As am on Satellite broadband(back of the black stump) my speed of access to sites is also a little limited. We come from the land downunder. Vic |

My (current) weather site is here. It's a little unusual compared to most peoples, in that because I run 100% offgrid, the weather station (including extras like the pyranometer) are really "sensors only" here, and all the logging, graphing, archives etc is done on a machine in a datacentre. There isn't much data between my station and the datacentre, it just dribbles in all the time. The "higher data" component - when lots of people are looking at it, or searching data, is done without affecting my home bandwidth, so your satellite connection shouldn't pose a (substantial) problem. |

Hi Vic and Ross I would be interested but am a puter dummy. I downloaded cumulus, looks interesting. The clock works but that's all. Bob Foolin Around |

http://www.sanday.org.uk/weather/ Above address is site of Cumulus`s developers(Sandysoft) logging site, note it is updated every 10minutes direct from users computer. Not as comprehensive as yours. Note from search the 4M has had only a little interest shown to weather stations, I should have done the search first and continued the thread from earlier this year. My apologies for that, very rarely do I look before I leap. Creates problems but certainly not boredom. Perhaps with Stations such as Sinometer(rebadged Fineoffset and many other names) at affordable prices on Ebay, Marine shops, camping shops etc., 4M members may have some interest now and they tie in with our wind turbine interest. Bob, persist with Cumulus, once configured for your station I believe you will like it. Ross, I`m a bit like you 100% off-grid and that sometimes leads to my Satellite internet and TV problems. They are always off when an update is made.(Murphy`s Law) We come from the land downunder. Vic |

New version of Cumulus has been realeased, have included a annual Summary it generates for my Station this year. Cumulus as it evolves is becoming more powerfull as the programmer adds features from user requests etc. Have not entered normal and base conditions into database as yet as have some conflicting "normals" from various sources. Hopefully BOM AU can be of assistance here, however these "normals" are available for areas that have long term recording ie more populated areas. The wind data is probably of most interest for the 4M re. comparisions of each of our locallities. Will keep thread alive so as it may generate interest. Hi VK4AYQ, Could you setup an APRS weather station? I have one setup at my QTH here in Paraburdoo. Have a look at VK6MRG's weather station And in the sprite of the Back Shed, it's completely standalone! Solar panel, solar regulator, SLA batteries, WS1 weather station and a Puxing 777 hand held radio. Not quite finished yet, still need a Stevenson screen and mount the solar panel. VK6MRG Matthew Its easier to ask forgiveness than to seek permission! ............VK6MRG.............VK3MGR............ |
